MC18 on a laptop and Pioneer N-50 are working perfectly with Cat5 cabling on the same switch.

but when the N-50 is connected to a wireless bridge  ( a  WAP121 configured as a bridge connected to an Aironet 1040 ) MC18 is unable to detect the N-50, same thing with a WET200. But in this agcement, the N-50 can access internet radio without any problem 

Any idea ?

It has to be a problem with a firewall or routing.  The wiki has a topic on "Network Access".

What version of MC are you using?

I have upgraded to MC 18.0.129

Yes it seems that that this is a problem linked to my network.. I need Wi-Fi because my N-50 is in a location near my audio system and setting up a wired network in the living room is not on the track.

The Wi-Fi infrastructure in is built around Cisco gears, and as it is configured as bridge every equipment is on the same network 10.10.14.0/24.

I can control the N-50 from my IPhone, the Pioneer application is not perfect but there is no problem with the Wi-Fi connection, and I can also ping the N-50 from the laptop where MC18 is running without any problem.

By the way, I am not accustomed with the UPnP protocol, as it seems  there is no need to set any TCP/IP address in MC18 configuration, may be a ARP problem ?

It's Fixed

It seems that the WiFi bridge doesnt support IP broadcast, so the  WAP121 or WET200 configured as bridge can't support UPnP protocol.

From that point  i had two solutions

1. Put a CAT5 cable between switch and N-50  : that was done and now everything is running smoothly.
 
2. Configure WET200 as WDS, it seems that this is not supported with a aironet 1042 access point so i have given up.

How do you like the Pioneer N50? ...  
I believe that you can also connect with Asynchronous USB  have you compared the sound with either your wireless or your cat 5 connection?
What was the most convenient way to control your music... running MC with Gizmo or using the Pioneer N50 interface?
Do you consider the N-50 as a low jitter source
What other devices did you consider?  
I think this is the future for audio...  The interfacing problem is another formidiable issue tho.

 I think that i am not able to make any difference, got years to throw away may old system, now it is replaced with a REGA Brio-R amplifier and a pair of Mulidine Cadence this is a huge improvement compared to my previous system  ( ARC gmbh and DENON system )  so now i am happy with the overall quality, the next step to get  another order of magnitude improvement will be extraordinary costly .

In fact the number of CD that i own was the origin of  acquiring JR18, i rip my disks and now i can play them from my laptop, this is an improvement comparing to fiddle with numerous CD box, especially after a children had made some organization or let empty cases and piles of CD around. 

it seems that the N-50 is very versatile as the number of ways to control it is outstanding,  i don’t like especially the N50 interface but it is working. Now I am experimenting with a Synology NAS and the sound package associated with it, better than Pioneer interface.

If my ears are not able to make any difference, meanwhile I own  some very high quality frequency sources and may make some measurements in the future, for that purpose I suppose that I have to collect sound references to compare them and record the jitter with software  http://www.ke5fx.com/timelab/readme.htm

Well, as I have said , my new system give a huge improvement, so I have to settle a while before going on..)

The next step is to control the sound level from  JR18 :  nor REGA and N-50 can provide this functionality, it is a pity . I am looking in disassembling  an IR remote control and  finding some way to control it by TCPIP (http://www.ghielectronics.com/catalog/product/431)
