Hi

I have just started using subtitles and on some of these the sub shows <32>text</32> when someone is singing in the film clip.

How can I change this to something different like a blue colour or italic letters? Is there a setting in JRiver where I set what the <32> should display or do I change all the codes in the srt file to something different?

Perhaps this is a little late reply but I'm still stuck with this problem. So if you have any suggestion too what I can do I would be very great full.

Like I said I have a .srt file which has certain codes which JRiver don't recognise. Every time someone sings in a movie clip it shows <32>singing<32>. I would prefer this to show in a italic font but I don't know how to change this. I edited the .srt and used instead of <32> but I don't work. Is there any other way I can do this?

Is <32> a standard marker for italic?  This is new to me.

Is there any sort of list or specification about these markers?

No I don't think <32> is a marker for italic. The subtitle file are from Swedish public service and I think it might be a colour code. Unfortunately I don't have any specification about them. But if I remember correct its usually blue when some ones sings. Also in the beginning of the file its another code <35> and its for hearing impaired, describing a background noise. They use to be yellow.

For my personal use its not so important what colour or type face it is. I just want to change it to something different so it doesn't show <32> in the subtitle text.

I've never heard of pure numeric tags in SRT, it usually only supports some basic HTML tags, like <font color="#00FF00" size="6">Test</font>, or some other basic tags for italic, bold, underlined, etc.
I quickly checked a few implementations of SRT that i know, and no mention of any numeric tags, in short they only handle "font" and the "bisu" family (bold, italic, strikethrough, underlined), plus some anchoring tags {\anX} and some other metacharacters, \h, \N, etc.

Does some other player handle those properly, that you know of?

No I don't know of any other player that handles those codes. I just know that Swedish Public Service uses them.

But I think I can use HTML tags. With a text editor I could probably use a "search and replace" command and change the codes to some of the HTML tag you mentioned.
