Reorganize Standard Keyboard Shortcuts......
« on: March 03, 2013, 09:44:17 am »

Now that i have a new HTPC Case and a new iMonVFD Display,i run into keyboard shortcut problems.

With the old imonvfd i was able to map nearly every remotebutton to any shortcut i wanted.
But with the new one (display looks exactly like the old one  ?), i can't map 1-0 on the remote to any keyboard shortcut i want.Which was working with the old imonvfd.
I already posted the problem in soundgraph forum.Seems there was driver change with the new imonvfd and these buttons cannot be mapped anymore.Edited a text, and pressing remote buttons 1-0 shows the same value (1-0).

So,the only way i can solve this,is to change keyboard shortcuts in mc.Looked at the resource.xml

I found more than one parameters for 1-0 shortcuts:

-Playback engine shortcuts (image)
What is command 28014? Didn't find it in the list above in xml.
-Playback engine shortcuts (television)
What is command 28030? Didn't find it in the list above in xml.

Would like to know function of these command parameters.

Can i simply delete these lines and build up my own command parameters for 1-0 in General Shortcuts.
Or do i run in troubles if i delete them.I do not watch TV on HTPC.
Or can i create something similar:
Playback engine shortcuts (video) 1-0 shortcuts
Playback engine shortcuts (audio) with different 1-0 shortcuts

I ask because there are only two different settings available with the same buttons (television, image)
Is it possible to create different settings for audio and video for example?
And how should it look like? Like this <!-- Playback engine shortcuts (television) --> ,but video/audio instead of television.

Or do i get problems, when moving 1-0 to general shortcuts, when working with mc.If i fill some tags in files and type 1 for example.Does this bring on the General Shortcut for "1" or not?

EDIT:
Ok,tested it with General Shortcuts.Rating 1-5 (With Keyboard Shortcuts 1-5).Definitely doesn't work.If i type something in tag fields in MC Standard View and press one of the 1-5 buttons,MC rates the currently playing file.
Is there a way i can get around this problem.I can't change remote mappings for this buttons anymore,so i must find a solution in MC.......

Thanks,i should have looked there before.I thought all commands are listed in the Resource.xml,too.

Is it possible to change keyboard shortcuts to 1-0,so that i can use them with my remote.
The problem as i've seen so far, if i change keyboard shortcuts to 1-0 as i would like them,it is interfering MC in Standard View. When i do custom tagging and have to use one of the 1-0 Keyboard buttons for example.

I can't change these button commands with remote software (iMon) anymore.
Is there a way to make this possible,or have i lost 10 Buttons on my Remote completely for MC?

I changed the key for rating "one" star with keyboard "1" shortcut, to test.

-As you suggested, i captured the Remote Button (1),which worked normal.
-Added Keyboard Shortcut "1" (Rating Star 1) to General Shortcuts in Resource.xml

Now it works the other way round,as in my first setting.

I can rate files with 1 Star,no problem. But if i want to tag files and i need the button 1 on the keyboard, nothing happens and the file which is active in playing now gets a 1 star rating....

It seems that is not the solution.Any other hint for me???
Can i produce two different outputs if i press 1 on the keyboard or 1 on the remote.Perhaps with the help of the captured Button Code???

Information:
MC normally has nothing to do with remote settings/captures.... It can all be set in soundgraph imon software the way you want it.Which worked perfectly, until the new Case/VFD Display and the point that the old Driver was eliminated for the new VFD display (which looks exactly like the old one), came across my way. >:(
Now System-based remote buttons like (back, delete, enter, window +numeric buttons 1-0............) cannot be mapped to another keyboard shortcut anymore.
So that these buttons can be used, even if imon Software isn't running in the background. But why they did this???It really doesn't matter if iMon Manager software is running in the background. It was working great. You could map every button to any shortcut to any application you wanted.Good times over. :'(

Imon is a little bit messy with what it passes on. I have a global remote so i can freely design and assign buttons to it but here' the remote path:
The chain is for ex. Press 1 -> imon transmits if not reassigned differently in imon -> 1 -> mc receives 1 like a keyboard stroke. I found that imon is not passing always everything correctly. One way to check is to open a notepad.txt and then press all the buttons and you see what get's actually transmitted to an active software.

Once i have that i change assignements in imon for buttons and map it in imon to ctrl+anything depending on which command of mc i want triggered. I haven't experienced that this ability would have been taken away

The problem will be that this command will go "assigned" for any software and might mess up things.

So i ended up using the imon remote and not the mce remote as there are a lot more buttons you can miss-use. I then take for instance the thumbnail button and learn this code in mc for the function I want (or reassign it in imon to transmit what i want mc to receive) As said having a universal remote the thumbnail button will be renamed to its new function. This helps once for instance you have assigned the blue button to, in fact, change audio tracks, the red one to enable subtitles etc...

The tagging function you have assigned to 1 is not optimal as you need 1 for navigation. Assign it to a button you don't use like the color ones. Once you have no other button left to miss-use you might want to consider using the imon remote.
Just a thought

But that's my problem with the "new" VFD version.I can't map the numeric buttons for example to any other button anymore. The are greyed out. I must use 1-0 Keyboard Buttons with these remote buttons.
I already postet this problem in soundgraph forum. The answer was that i can't do anything to use the old VFD Driver, where all was changeable.

After many hours, I ended up deciding that the whole Soundgraph and iMon thing was not worth the time involved, so my remote sits in a drawer and the display is dark.

I will likely get an MCE style remote like the one offered on this site, although generally I prefer using wireless mice...
