Hi all,

Can you please help me understand why some video files are choppy (image encounters small/brief interruptions - donno how to translate it better, hope you know what I mean) and others are not while transcoding them and playing remotely on my Sony BDTV via DLNA? Does it have to do with the PC's processing power (CPU is at 100% when transcoding)? Does it have to do with the network? Is there anything to be done?

Currently my conversion is MPEG2/PAL DVD stream and I am doing it because otherwise by Sony BDTV won't show subtitles. Should there be any difference in playing avi vs mp4 vs mkv, while transcoding?

In the context of having a powerful PC and home network, should I expect a clear HD quality of the movie? Should I expect any differences towards playing it locally on the PC for example?

It could be either, but if the CPU is at 100%, that would by my first guess.

DLNA encoding has several levels now.  Try those.

Tried different encodings but only MPEG2/DVD works for me.

Is there any way to do transcodings beforehand or they can only be done on the fly?

... as in "Right Click --> Library Tools --> Convert Format"?

There are plenty of ways/tools to convert to a different format.

Issues will depend on the source you have and what you want to transcode it to, though.

You could also try the new MPEG2/DVD autofps conversion.
