Disable other sounds while playing
« on: March 05, 2013, 01:55:52 am »

Hi All,

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I recently got a new laptop and after re-installing it there is one feature of MC18 I cannot find anymore.
I distinctly remember there was a way to suppress all other sounds from Windows and other applications while Media Center was running. But however hard I search, I can't find that little indicator anywhere. I listen to music a lot through headphones at work and the beeps of emails, skype, etc are very annoying.
I'd appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

Enable exclusive mode in Player > Playback Options > Output mode settings.

Hi MrC,

Thanks for replying. If you mean "Open device for exclusive access", this is already enabled. I'm still getting all the other sounds. Am I missing something? My sound controller is an IDT High Definition Audio CODEC.

Best regards,

Ok, after being pointed in the right direction I think I've answered my own question.
Changing my Device from "Speaker/Headphones" to "Communication headphones" seems to have solved the problem. All other sounds are now suppressed.
Thanks again!
