I have HTPC with AMD E-350 APU (integrated Radeon 6310). It is not fast CPU
and DXVA is required to play HD video. It is connected via HDMI to Denon 4810.
Bitstreaming works very well and 1080p/hdaudio blurays sounds good and looks
great and smooth.
To play 24 bit / 96KHz (or more) / 5.1 channels audio it is required to set
HDMI hardware buffer to 100ms or less. If bigger buffer is set then MC refuse
to play and force 24/96/2.0 channels (stereo only).
If bitstreaming is off then to play blurays smooth 250ms or more buffer is needed
because lower buffer cause sound stuttering and slow motion video.
What is interesting that there is no such a problem with mkv files (also 1080p)
with DTS-HD MA sound. They are played well with 100ms buffer both bitstreaming
on and off.
Now I have set zone switch to play all BDMV using bitstreaming and it works fine,
but I'm curious if mkv movies play ok, then is it possible to play 5.1/7.1 blurays
smooth with bitstreaming off?
