Using remote in theater view to jump to letter
« on: March 11, 2013, 09:36:02 pm »

All,

I tried reading the wiki but I did not see anything... is there a way to set up the number keypad on my remote to jump to a letter sms style?

TIA,

AL

I was thinking similar thing. On the other hand you can use Page Down/Page Up to scroll faster through Theatre Mode.

I use that as well, but since I zoom in so I have 7 X 2 images across my screen, it still takes quit a few clicks to get to the letter M for instance...

My remotes, a Logitec and JRiver, does this allready. You can change sittings for yours under Remote in options.

Mine worked without me changing anything.

how do you have your harmony configured? do you have it using mce commands for jriver?

even if i use my mce remote it still only jumps for abc.

I not at my computer right now, but let me verify and get back to you.

The Harmony is set-up by selecting JRiver in the Logitech software. I think it was MC14 or similar I found. I beleive that is based on a MCE.

When you say it only works for abc, do you the mean that only button "1" works?

Yes, sorry. Also button "2" for me.

I just verified. All buttons work on my Harmony One, Harmony Touch and JRiver remotes. Just like SMS, meaning I can press button "8" twice and it will jump to Movie starting with "U". This is true for both Movies and Audio.

In the Logitech software I have selected JRiver Media Center 14 as my device for both Harmony remotes. It shouldn't matter however, since the JRiver remote is also working.

Under Options in Remote Control, the device I have selected is "Remote, Keyboard, gamepad or other HID" selected.

I did notice one limitation though. I am not able to search backward in the view. If I am at the letter "U" pressing a button to get to a letter before that does not work. That would actually be nice to have that fixed.

Just noticed that the new build has a fix for remote buttons not working. Prehaps that will help you?
