iPad Remote and Setup Questions
« on: March 24, 2013, 01:23:58 pm »

My present configuration:
Ext.HD
MacMini
PureMusic
iPad using the Apple "Remote" app
Wavelength Crimson DAC

As a trial, I downloaded MC18 to my MacMini.  Before purchasing MC18, I wanted to trial "JRemote" on my iPad, but it appears that it is a $9.99 download.  While I have no problem with the cost, I do have a problem with buying it and not using it because I don't like MC18 or JRemote.

Is a trail version of JRemote available?

Are there other remotes that will work with JRiver and may do so better than JRemote?

In MC18, for best playback, should I be doing more than the following in Playback Options:

Output Mode = Core Audio

Output Mode Settings = Select my DAC's Name and
Check Mark "Open device with exclusive access"

Check Mark "play files from memory"

From reading the forum JRemote is preferred.  However if you are just testing whether your set-up works with your IPad youcan try Gizmo for Mac. It is free and gives you an idea of how your set up will work.
