2. NEW: DLNA working as a server, controller and renderer. Note, you'll likely have to reset your settings if you didn't already in build 18.0.150, there are bad uuids in there. The easiest way to do this is to rename or remove the "~/Library/Application Support/J River/Media Center 18/Settings" either from a terminal window or the finder after unhiding the ~/Library directory.

Media Server starts up, seems to connect, (Activity in the log window) but never 'sees' the DAC.

The windows still disappear and fragment and leave portions of themselves behind after switching to a completely different window.

BUT I can now play multiple albums back to back.  This started with 166 and has continued.  :thumb

But the screen gets so fragmented I need to re-start in order to navigate and see where I'm going.

Naim Unitilite cannot see any DLNA server since .166. Now using .165 and it seems to be the most usable version

Now with this build, when I launch JRemote  the music stops, when I quit, the file play from start.
It happens that the music instead of stopping, goes in a loop of about one second.
First time I experienced the loop was in build 18.0.167.
Very often when I click anything the program goes into a spin, after a while shuts down, saying unexpected.
Trying to reopen says cannot open. 600-
The bright side: I have a naive hope the static distortion is gone. Only it might be because mc has not been stable enough lately, to run long enough to show the problem.
18.0.168 Mac Mini SSD OSX 10.8.3.
Update: Finally played for about 5 min. Just to discover that the distortion is NOT gone.
Pause and play make no difference, but to punch stop, and then play makes sound perfect again.
Noticed a few others with same observation.
This is with the Diverter HR, and with all others having similar problems, but only with JRiver on Mac, I believe the problem, and solution is at the player. Otherwise it is not likely that this will work out to be the player I expected.

Getting crashes while tagging.  This was happening on 167 as well, and I just upgraded to 168 with the hope that it would improve.  

The crashes aren't 100% consistent, but I can't get through more than a few albums without a crash.  Some details:

- local files, mp3s and m4as.  Crashes don't seem to favour one or the other.
- changing tags in bulk on whole albums, then moving them using "Rename, Move, & Copy files..."
- all local files, moving from one local folder to another.  
- nothing playing, MC isn't doing anything else that I know of.
- Running 10.8.3 on a 2.3GHz i5 with 8GB memory.

Let me know if there's any other info I can provide to help figure this out.

Update: Still getting loads of crashes.  Re-loading MC will then let me complete the tagging on the same files I was working on without trouble, only to crash a few albums later.

I can't reproduce this problem.  I changed track change from 4 sec to 2 sec and enabled play from memory but no crashes on a couple of systems.  Any tips to repro would be appreciated.

Just started Mac this morning and read your reply, so I started MC and allowed it to pick up my renderer and immediately without accessing anything else, called up the Option page and changed the item - Switch tracks: Standard (gapped) -2s - to -4s and clicked OK and this caused the program to close immediately. Restarted and followed the same procedure as above and reset  from -4s to -2s again caused the program to close. Restarted and called up the Option page to check if setting had been applied which they had, but clicking OK now without changing anything again caused the program to close. Restarting and checking setting again strangely the setting has changed to - Cross-fade (smooth) -4s. I have changed it back and will leave it at that for now and just let it play. This closed the program again of course.

I should perhaps make clear that this does not seem to have any adverse effect on MC ability to play music to both my DAC via optical out and to my renderer via UPnp/DLNA simultaneously, different tracks to each. System details in Signature.

I won't install this new build (167) for now in case I can try anything else.

It's just a once-in-a-while thing that has happened with both file types that I tend to use (FLAC and ALAC) and never happens more than once; if I restart the playback it ceases. The files are on a local, internal hard drive.

Playback: Mac Pro, OS X 10.8.3, USB through V-Link/192 to an Audio Research DAC 7 via coax (RCA).

Have you tried all the "normal" fixes to see if they help?  I have the exact setup but I attach via coax to a different DAC and have no clicking (but used to). 

If I recall correctly, the main thing was to set all output to the highest level your DAC can support (typically either 24/96 or 24/192) regardless of file type.  Since JRiver is upsampling anyway, there isn't a loss of quality.  Also adjusting to play from disc, not from memory, and to set the buffering at 6 seconds (or 10 seconds for some...perhaps best said to try a few buffering settings and see if that helps).

I have the clicking issue systematically whenever I launch a web stream.
this happens both locally (default output) and when sending output to my DAC (over DLNA).
I"m unfamiliar with the settings you recommend (and are they applicable for the default output?)
