Copy contents from one field to another field - help pls
« on: April 19, 2013, 08:41:56 am »

Hello folks I am new here.
Because the contents of the Comments field are not easy to read there has been some discussion about which alternative field to use. I am thinking of such info as Record Company Cat Number, Album version, Remixed by, stereo or mono, Vera the Voice sang backing vocals on track 6, and so on.
All such info is in the Comments field, but as I said, I cannot read it from one thin row.
I therefore need to copy all this data to another field.
The Description field seems to be the favourite choice.

So how do I copy the contents of my Comments fields to the newly adopted Description field?
I have far too many albums to do one at a time. I am looking for a mass copy solution please.
Please speak slowly as I am not familiar with JRMC18 yet  ;)
Thanks,

It's easy when you know how, ha ha  :D

Thanks Jim

I suppose flip flop=Swap round.

What about appending to the existing contents [not overwriting the destination field]

What about appending to the existing contents [not overwriting the destination field]

Tag the field directly.  To append field A to field B leaving field B's content, tag Field B with

  =[B] [A]

or to prepend with a dash:

  =[A] - [B]

Referring to the field this way will use the field's value, and the = does the assignment.
