This issue is not specific to 18.0.171 and may have always been the case. The AVCHD version (by far the most popular version) of the AVSHD 709 calibration disc will not play. Sometime you will get an error message when you launch from disk, sometimes the screen just goes all white.
Below is some text that describes this very popular calibration tool. iIt has patterns for use with both Chromapure and Calman plus even though it a blu-ray type endcode runs of ordinary DVD media. It really is a must have and a must work in MC.

Technical: Includes AVCHD extended information. This download does not include AUXDATA, BDJO, JAR, or CERTIFICATE folders. These differences from the HDMV download may affect playback from DVD media on certain players. For example, some Samsung models will require the folders found on the HDMV download.

Not Included: Some Misc. Patterns, such as the Mpeg2 video from dr1394, and the top navigation selections from the HDMV menus.
