Cause of the crash on import discovered!
« on: April 15, 2013, 06:00:13 am »

As reported previously all my tracks actually managed within MC for windows are crashing MC Mac on import (except wav). Now I discovered the cause: it is the cover art embedded. If I remove it with external tags editor, the files can be imported and played flawlessly regardless of their type.

Now the problem is: what to do with about 54,000 files? There is hope that the problem will be addressed?

Thank you VM.

Build 10.0.168
O.S. 10.6.8

Edit: if, after performing the import, I try to add a front.jpg from file as the cover, it does not appear (instead displays the file path where jpg actually is). if I select cover art -> view, I get "the media type 'image' is not supported".

What format are the files with embedded images?  Can you send one to me?

John,

I have mostly jpg.
Please let me know an email to send the file track with the embedded image as I was not able to attach it to the post  (got an error while posting).

More infos:
Does not seems to be an import issue but rather a display issue.
In fact if the actual view has the image column not checked to view MC doesn't crashes on import and the library appears to be correct.
As soon as you check the image column to view (or switch to a view with thumbnails to be displayed) MC crashes.

If you have a file track in library without image embedded and try to add an image file by MC, it doesn't crashes but the thumbnail is not displayed.

( please forget the part regarding the file pah as it was checked the image column that I have mistaken for the image column; sorry)

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce on my system.  I can import that file you sent and play it and view the cover art and haven't seen a problem yet.  Anything else I should try?  Thanks.

Is this actually importing the exported library or doing an import from a folder structure?

In curious as I would like to import a rather large library (by folder) and see how it copes.

Hi John,
Yes, I think you can, for example, take a look at the crash report as I suspect that there is something wrong on my MacBook.
Please confirm so I will send you the log.
Please also let me know if your test was done on a 10.6.8 O.S.
Thanks and Regards.
