M4a questions
« on: April 23, 2013, 12:28:38 pm »

I'm running MC18 in trial mode before deciding to upgrade from MC17

I have a query about MC's handling of m4a audio files (aac)

When the playback method is set to automatic they play as 'live' and the files are unseekable + bookmarks don't work, so no stop and resuming later on
Set to JRiver audio engine (using directshow filter) they play back like a normal file would
Well, most do, there have been a few that play back at (I'm guessing) double speed - IIRC these were 24000\hz (or 22500) mono files

So, I'd just like to know 'is this normal' ?

(The tracks are about 18 hours long if that makes a difference)

This isn't normal, because the M4A container should specify the duration and seek points.

It's possible the "18 hours long" thing is the issue.  I don't suppose you have any way to share a sample (like with Dropbox, etc.)?

Yeah, I can
Do you want me to PM you the link when it's finished uploading?

[edit]
For what it's worth, MediaInfo shows the correct duration

Thanks.  I'm downloading now.

I'll try to follow-up later today or tomorrow after I step it in the debugger.

It looks like it's just a 32-bit integer overflow issue.

It will be fixed next build.  Sorry about the problem, and thanks for your help.
