Dear MJ,

We beta testers woul love to know what you have in store for us....in other words a small update on things to come would be great.

What are you guys currently working on....and I do not mean the bugs.  What things in the wish list are being developed etc?

Keep up the great work,

Mike

Mike,
We're not doing much but pushing to fix bugs right now.

The next version will improve our integration with TV, adding easy-to-use recording like the TiVo.  Both Matt and I are watching TV via our PC's now.  The display is a TV.  My wife loves the ability to switch to a browser.

We're also going to move some of our technology to Linux.

I'd like to add telephone, so you can see on the TV who's calling without leaving the couch, but I'm having trouble convincing the developers.

Other than that, it's mostly making things run faster and more smoothly.

Thanks for asking.

What are the chances that "Things to come" could include Quicktime support via Apple's SDK?

Basically what happened is that we had it right up until Microsoft decided to not support it (or at least QT 4&5) in WMP anymore. Since MJ was using WMP for Quicktime support, that means we lose it as well. That's why I've been nudging the guys to use Apple's Quicktime libraries themselves so that we can always have Quicktime support in MJ.

I SEEN MAYBE 2 OR 3 THINGS THAT USED IT.

Seems Like A Wast Of Time To Me

Quicktime is way better than any of the other video formats out there. Check out Apple's Quicktime site for all sorts of movie trailers. They have incredibly good image quality, even when presented fullscreen. Plus adcritic.com (when they were online) used quicktime video for all of the downloadable commercials. I've got huge numbers of Quicktime files that I can't, but want to, play in MJ.

It's not meant for people who want a very quick little download of a video file. It's for people who don't mind the extra download time in order to have the quality. Much like APE over MP3 or WMA.

Atari Had A Beta Device That Did This For The 8-Bit

Problem Was At That Time The Baud Rate Was At 300 Baud, Most People Did Not Have An Hour To Wait For One Frame

So do I take it that Vinyl/Tape (being Media too!) HISS - POP - CLICK - CRACKLE Filters will not be added to the "Media Editor" in the near future?  Are they in the too hard basket, or are they not going to be considered at all as very useful & worthwhile additions?

We have to button up version 8 and ship it now.  Any improvements will come in the next version.

well one thing for the DM is i would like to see an option to hold all downloads and when ready let the user to push the "GO" Or "Download" button and release the download list.

this will help users with 56k modems and even cable users from needing to flip html pages to get to more downloads and do not have 5 downloads going and trying to wait for the HTML page to be sent with all related graphics.

also

at the bottom of the DM window a status bar

Downloads in Que, Downloads Downloaded, Downloads Remaining, Current BPS, Avarage BPS, Bytes To Download, Bytes Downloaded etc....

And a history page past and present.
