EQ and DSP not always active
« on: March 27, 2002, 01:43:20 pm »

Greetings All:
Been playing with the 30 day try-out and am really impressed. I started looking at MJ as a replacement for RealOne (too quirky for me - buggy also). Now to my question: when I have the EQ and DSP active (on Playing Now view) and then switch to another view and then back to NOW, it seems that the EQ/DSP drops out (STOPS). That is, when I switch to another view the effects STOP but become active again when I switch back to NOW. Is this normal? A quirk of the TRY-OUT? Or, heaven forbid, a bug? I have used the LAME encoding for ripping - seems to be much slower than what I'm used to. Is this normal as it as a reputation for having better quality.

Thanks in advance - btw, I have the latest and greatest release 7.2.280.

Lame is clearly slower, but much more consistent and reliable than the other encoders. Try Lame VBR, or if you have the drive space, Monkeys Audio/APE - lossless format.

If you have the stomach for betas, try MJ 8.0.234 - pretty stable for the majority of the users. Don't know if you can shift from 7.2.280 in the middle of a test drive, though.
