(presumably) minor change request
« on: May 14, 2013, 02:12:27 pm »

There is an option to restart MC playing on run.  That works fine, but only for one zone.  If you had multiple zones playing independently when MC was closed, only one would be re-started on run.

I'd like to request that in the above condition (MC was closed while playing multiple playlists and to independent zones (like during a software update) that whatever zones were playing at the time are restarted, not just one.  Is that possible?  Single or multiple zones might be an option in the start-on-run configuration.

In my case I use my main MC Server as a programmed stream server to external Vorbis encoders for Icecast streaming, so the streams need to be up and running as automatically as possible.

Thanks for considering.  Hopefully it's not a big deal code-wise.

Seems like an edge-case.  If they don't give you what you need, you can absolutely script MC to launch and play any Zones you want.  I can give you a hand if you need it, but read this post first:

That should give you an idea of how to get started.

Oh you're correct.  It would not be difficult to integrate in my Python scripts which manage several other things MC related as well.  However, it seems like a fundamentally valid capability of basic MC, to be able to restart in the state it was last in.  It does so many others things exactly correct as far as state on re-start is concerned.  Seems like a natural addition.

Thanks.
