Problem ripping and burning
« on: May 16, 2013, 06:19:10 pm »

Hi

I hoped the change to version 18 would fix my problem but it didn't.
I used to be able to rip and burn mp3s and CDs but for some reason I can't anymore. When I try to rip a CD, a message refers to error 1 (something about the encoder, which I believe may be the source of my problem, but which Media Center's Tools won't allow me to alter).
As for mp3s stored in my computer, just before I try to burn a CD-R, Media Center lists the number of songs and their length, but tells me there's 4 seconds left in the burning process before I've even started. When I press on burn, Media Center starts and stops almost immediately, giving me 1 second of music on the CD-R (and wasting it).
Can somebody please tell me how to fix this problem?
Much appreciated,

Robert

Could you try another PC?  It might be a bad drive.

That's something I could try, but I was hoping it was a simple 'encoder' adjustment I could do with a couple of clicks of the mouse.
If no one else has advice, I'll try another PC.
Thanks for your help.

Just a quick update: I played a CD through Windows Media Center but can't through JRiver. I assume that means the PC drive is okay and it's something to do with JRiver.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated,
