cannot input Chinese character in the search widget

I am running version 187.
In the search widget, I can only type in an English word.
I'd like to search titles which contains Chinese characters.

I press Control-Shift-Space to bring up the trackpad handwriting (for Chinese) window and enter the Chinese characters.

Thanks.  We'll have to look into what it would take to add something like this to our proprietary cross-platform edit controls.
