Latest Drive Bender 1.8.6.0 seems corrupt
« on: May 20, 2013, 06:01:23 am »

I downloaded the latest update, I tried it several times with different browsers and verified the files downloaded against each other. Each version is the same and gives the following message:

Code: [Select]
A file thtat is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file C:\bla\disk1.cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt.

I'm done with DB and I'm in the process of removing it from my PC.

Did mine yesterday. Double clicked the download to be greeted with a 'corrupt installer' message, d'loaded again and it all went just fine.

I have been pleased with how well DB has been behaving lately, no glitches, no weirdness, just about in 'set it and forget it' territory.

Yeh it's been decent recently, I agree.

Dunno what this error is about though I tried it 4 times.

Maybe it's not d'loading a new file, but copying from the cache instead?

If you're happy that I'm not a l33t hax0r or anything like that, there's a copy of my installer removed if you want to try that.

Thanks Marko.

It turns out it's the same one as I had so somehow its something on my system that the installer doesn't like.

It starts the install, copies files, asks to close processes, pops up a message it can't and needs to reboot, I accept that, it continues and then comes up with that message.

I've already started moving stuff around to undo Drive Bender.

Strange. FWIW, I always take the 'don't try, reboot required' option.

God how I hate that. Shunting terrabytes of data around, verifying no bits got flipped in the process etc. etc. Last time I did that it took about four days to get it all where I needed it!

Yep, I did that first, and I tried closing the processes myself too.

Moving data is a drag, it takes ages but I'm hoping to be done tonight. 4 days would be really depressing.

I was fortunate that I only lost a couple of ripped films in the process, so it wasn't too much of an issue to rip the discs again. Dealing with the duplicated file structure left by DriveBender can be a pain though.

This was the easiest way for me to sort out my Media Center library, after nothing was where it thought it should be: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=80478.msg547736#msg547736

I was thinking an easeir way to move stuff around and get rid of the duplicated structure is to stop DB.  Create a new library and import the db folder into it then use MCs move fuction to put it all into a new top level folder.  Repeat for the next drive etc
