Hi all!

I've used JRiver for a while, but I'm still quite n00b when it comes to a lot of the advanced library management features. I recently purchased a Netgear ReadyNAS, an HTPC, and a laptop. My NAS stores all of my FLAC files, and my HTPC and laptop both run MC. The HTPC and the laptop both map the NAS' music folder to the same drive (M:\), and they both use their own local libraries.

When I'm travelling I'd like to have access to all of my music, so I'd like my laptop to have a lossy (OGG) copy of all of my FLAC files. The problem I'm having is keeping these files synchronized. Right now it's a manual process: whenever I rip a new album I rip to FLAC, then convert those files to OGG and save them on my laptop, and move the FLAC files to the NAS.

My laptop has multiple libraries - one that points to the lossless files in the NAS, and one that points to all of the local (lossy) files. Is there a way I can tell MC that the lossy library is a "lossy clone" of the lossless library, and have it keep the two synchronized? (i.e. - any time new files are added to the lossless library, automatically copy, convert, and store those files locally.) Alternatively, is there a way I synchronize my laptop's lossy library with my HTPC's library (which is usually more accurate anyway), to automatically convert new files that are added?

You can create a Virtual Handheld to perform the conversion from a Smartlist (which defines the files you want converted and sync'd).  I do this all the time.  Start the process is manual, but simple: I just press the Sync button on the page under the Drives * Devices > My Handheld Name.
