Seems like the "output poles" from side and rear surrounds to additional channels are reversed.  In other words, SL output appears in the RL destination, and RL output appears in the SL destination.  SR and RR are similarly reversed.  True?

It's unlikely there's a systemic problem here, since a lot of users depend on surround sound.

You might double-check your cabling and DSP settings.

This might help (allows playing to each channel easily):

I didn't state it clearly enough, but this doesn't impact the 7.1 surround channels everyone uses.  (I am using SR, SL, RR, and RL as sources to derive additional surround channels via delays, response tapering etc.)  The reversal seems to only impact the 7.1 channels as sources.  Only when "Adding source to destination" the side and rear surround channels are reversed.  Hope that makes sense???
