Weird conversion issue [Confirmed Bug]
« on: July 01, 2013, 06:52:35 am »

Hi,

I have a weird issue with MC 18.0.206.

I've ripped all my CD's to FLAC and have had no problem with this however my new laptop has limited storage due to it having an SSD so I thought I would create an OGG version of my FLAC files.

I created a new library called TEMP, imported all my FLACS then did a conversion to OGG with the setting Normal/High. The problem I have is that some of the files have converted to an ogv file with no tags. Thinking it was my laptop at fault (Windows 8 x64) I tried the exact same conversion on my Windows 7 x 64 PC with the exact same MC build and again I get .ogv files with no tag information for some files. Is this a known problem and if so are there any known workarounds for it.

Thanks.

John

*** Update: OK, tried to rip it straight from CD and it still produces a .ogv file. If I convert the FLAC files to WAV then try and convert from WAV to OGG I get .ogv. What am I doing wrong.

CD is Jean Michel Jarre - Odyssey Through O2

All my conversions to OGG create .ogg files (not .ogv).  How are you getting .ogv?

I don't see any tags missing.

OK, just to prove this is not all in my head,

First the file in explorer... It shows a .OGG

First file as shown with MediaInfo... Says it's an OGG file

Open it in MC18 and it has NO metadata and shows as a .ogv file.

Any help would be great. I can replicate this on 3 different machines now.

Matt, if you wish a sample file I can send you one.

Please help..

I tried every way I could to possible replicate your results, but failed.

Is it the same set of files each time that shows the problem?  Or is it a random set.

Were the files ripped to FLAC in MC, or some other program?

Hi MrC,

I ripped the CD in MC secure to Flac. I then did conversion to ogg. I've tried ripping to wav then converting and the same. If I rip with foobar and encode to ogg it shows ok in foobar. Copy the ogg files to MC and it shows ogv. I can pm you a link to sample file if you could assist.

I have the file.  But probably the FLAC file that reliably causes the issue would be the important one to try to reproduce the problem on systems not your own.

Confirmed.

The FLAC file converts directly to File Type=ogv, Media Type=Audio, file suffix .ogg.  Tags are empty.  The flac tests fine.

This will be fixed in the next build.

Fixed: When converting some FLAC files to ogg, it will no longer tag as "ogv"

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
