Movie refuses to show up in library
« on: July 13, 2013, 05:06:27 pm »

I've got one movie that refuses to show up in the library. Every other movie in the folder displays just fine, but this one won't display no matter what. I've emptied the library and re-imported, moved the file to another folder, everything I can think of. The .jpg and .xml files are there, but the title doesn't show up in the library. It's an MKV file, shows up in Explorer, plays in other players--nothing special about it that I can see.

Any ideas why, and what I can do? I'm going to try renaming next, but I want the filename to be the movie title, so that's no solution.

Create a smartlist, hit the Import / Export button and paste in exactly:

  ~d=a

and OK your way out.  Do you see the file in this list of data anywhere?

No. Not in the Smartlist either.

Try dragging it into MC's Playing Now from Explorer.  If it still doesn't show up, it means we're unable to parse the file.  It could have some issue.

Could you provide a sample (maybe with Dropbox) to logs (at) jriver [dot] com?

Thanks.

That worked. Turns out the movie is in the Library after all--the title tag is in German, even though the box copy is in English. Weird, but problem solved.

I'm sorry I didn't see your OP earlier. Indeed, it happens very often; the easiest way I've found to resolve it is to empty the "recently added" list before I import new movies. This way I can identify the files fast.
