CMYK Conversion
« on: July 14, 2013, 09:09:58 am »

Are there any news on the CMYK conversion problem of album arts? It is still not working.

Another question according album art:
Is there any chance you can 'support' .jpeg file endings?

Huh, I thought this had been fixed, but perhaps all that was fixed was it crashing Media Center. I just tried adding CMYK artwork to a file and it didn't seem to do anything, but I didn't get any errors either.
It's a rare occurrence, and I think I ended up just converting the file to RGB in Photoshop.

The last time I can find any mention of it is here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=80490.msg547878#msg547878

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it's correct that nothing happens when you try to add a CMYK. I noticed that a couple of times during the last days and just figured out what it was.
When I convert it to RGB manually it works.

I also found the post you linked and it would be nice to see that working again.

We switched to a new JPEG engine in MC18.  It was a little faster and works on Mac.

Unfortunately it doesn't have CMYK support.  The developer was willing to add a way to get to CMYK JPEG data for a price, but it would still require us to do the CMYK handling.

So it might happen in the future, but it's a little complicated.  I decided it was best to wait and see so that we could gauge the need and demand.

What about the .jpeg file ending?

What about the .jpeg file ending?

Where in particular are you having trouble with .jpeg as an extension?

When selecting an album art the dialog filters .jpeg files. You have to manually rename them to .jpg in order to choose them.

Right.  The Add from file dialog (Select Image File) filters out anything not: *.jpg; *.bmp; *.gif; *.png; *.tif

Next version:
Fixed: ".jpeg" now an allowable image format for cover art.
