One copy of MC 18 keeps crashing when inactive
« on: July 17, 2013, 12:29:37 pm »

I’m having problems with one copy of JRiver 18 crashing while inactive. It uses library server and background importing is disabled. I have a laptop using the same setup on another TV not displaying this behaviour. The copy of JRiver that exhibitis the problem is attached to an HK receiver which is itself attached to a TV. It runs on a computer with a clean install of Windows 7 64. The crashes happen when the computer is still on, but receiver and TV are off. Because of this, I suspect a problem with the ATI display drivers, but I can’t tell from the crash logs, which I have just sent. Hopefully someone can help with this. The Server and the other library client are very stable. All use the latest version.

Thought I should attach the crash bit of the log here. Can't hurt ...

Thanks for the log.

Please try turning off Media Network.  It seems like something is crashing in ntdll.dll after a server thread finishes.

It's possible middleware like a virus checker, etc. could cause this.

However, the first thing to do is test with Media Network off and see if it solves the crashes.

Please let us know what you find.

Well, no crashes after 24hrs without Media Network. I restarted Media Network and removed potential candidates for network hogging. Will report on the results
