As if we were on an ancient computer, the movie stops (Image sequence stops in a frame). But as we are not in an ancient computer when the image flow restarts we are some frames in front. And this happens with some seconds frequency, after some few minutes  Playing.
It hapeens with all video formats, from Full HD to simple low resolution.
Windows Media Player goes well with the same movies.
I had just uninstalled MC 17, but to test I reinstalled it.
As before, everything goes well with MC 17.
What is the reason for this and what shall I do to prevent it?
Desktop, Windows 8 Pro, CPU i7 920, 24 GB memory, 1 SSD for OS and 1 SSD for Programs, Nvidia GeForce GTX 285, several HDD for files.

Try setting video to Red October Standard.

What version of MC are you using?

I'm using MC18 and still keeping MC17 in reserve.
Red October is in Standard Mode.
This is happening only sometimes.
But when it happens, VLC and WMV work well.
Now I just saw a movie correctly. One hour ago it was impossible to see, with continuous image feezing.
Can this be a cache problem? I work with virtual machines and normally I have about half of RAM memory used (about 12 GB).
The remaining RAM memory is used by Windows to Cache its File System and others.
Is  MC Cache resizable?
I selected Hardware accelerated video decoding but I got no improvements.
But the case is that for now, the most of time it runs well.

Try changing Tools > Options > Video > Hardware Accelerate Video Decoding and see if that helps.
