Problem streaming to Naim [Solved]
« on: July 31, 2013, 12:46:04 pm »

Hi everyone. I'm having a problem and can't find any similar experiences here.

I'm using the trial version of MC18 on a dell optiplex running windows home server 2011, and streaming my musing to a Naim hifi streamer.

After a couple of minutes playing anything at all the stream just stops dead. MC is still running and I can restart playback and it will stop in a different place.

I can rule out the music files as they are fine with other servers and sonos.

This problem is definitely either WHS2011 or MC18.

Is there any way to trace what MC is doing? I'd like to eliminate it bit by bit (pun intended).

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.  If MC appears to be playing, the problem may be in the driver area.

What file type are they?  What sample rate?

Try using MC's DSP Studio / Output mode to resample everything to a lower bitrate/sample rate.

Thanks for the welcome JimH.

They are mostly FLAC ripped from cd using dbPoweramp, so nothing more fancy than 16/44.1

I'm leaning towards it being a WHS problem, but I was just looking to see if MC had any logging capability that might point me in the right direction.

Try copying a few files to a local drive and see if they play there.

Tried a few files on the local hard disk - no difference.

I swapped out WHS for Windows 8 and now everything is working fine. So definitely a WHS problem, but I've no idea why...
