So, I lost all my mp3's
« on: August 07, 2013, 11:00:31 am »

Yes I kind of lost all my mp3s but its not that bad. The hard drive was OK and I hadn't written anything else to it so I've recovered nearly all of them.

Not all of them though, there seems to be about a quarter of a gigabytes worth missing. I can get these from Google Music but it doesn't download them in the same file paths and format so I can't merge the data.

What I really need to do is make a playlist of files in my JRiver database that are missing from the hard drive. Can anyone think if  an easy way to do it?

If I had that I could assess how bad the loss is and what it's worth getting back.

Sorry about the data loss :(

This smartlist should show files that can't be found on disk (it'll be slow to load, since it talks to the disk):

Brilliant Matt, thanks for that.

The results aren't so good though, 5.0Gb, 718 files but at least i know what I'm up against

Have you used the app called RECUVA to try getting some more of the files back?
