Hi everyone,

I made some adjustments to MC that I am not sure about and now it takes a few seconds to respond to me. So when I hit play or adjust the volume or anything else there is  significant noticeable delay.

Can I ask where I need to make the adjustments please.

Many thanks for your help in advance.

If you reduce the buffer size, Media Center will be more responsive, but some audio hardware does not like short buffers so you may have problems with playback.

What adjustments did you make?

When you adjust volume, it affects the audio data moving through MC from that point on.

When you choose the playback from memory option, there will be extra delay before you hear sound as MC reads the music file into memory.

Thanks for the replies guys,

Firstly, I am not sure what adjustments I made, (if I remembered that I would just undo what I did!!)

Secondly, where do I adjust the buffering? I set it to 2 secs and still I have the same issue.

MC is sluggish and not instant as was previously. It takes about 5 seconds before a track starts or pauses.

If you are using ASIO  (Maybe similar with WASAPI) you may have increased the device buffer settings in "Options", "Audio", "Output Mode Setting"

A large buffer here will definitely increase the response time of the program for playing, Pausing etc...  But makes the program more reliable (Less buffering) For me especially when playing back High Resolution multi-Track audio.

baldo,

You are more likely to get useful adevice if you supply more information about your system such as

what's the PC hardware: cpu, amount of ram, hard drive
audio hardware (onboard sound, PCI/PCIe sound card, USB DAC, etc)
OS
location of your music files (internal HD, USB drive, on a NAS) and the MC library database files
file type (WAV, Flac, MP3, etc)
output method from MC (DirtectSound, ASIO, kernel streaming, WASAPI

Did you check playback from memory?
