Media Center 19 startup volume problem
« on: August 27, 2013, 01:53:07 pm »

I'm not sure this is been reported or not, but I have been experiencing a bug in the media Center 19 startup volume setting.  I seem to be getting the inverse of what I want; for instance, if I set the startup of volume to be at 80%, when I close the radius server and media Center, restarting the application gives me a startup volume of 20%. If I set the startup volume to be at 75%, when I restart the application the volume is actually at 25%.  I also have noticed in the last few builds that media Center 19 resists me manually changing the volume; as if it doesn't like me sliding the volume slider. I did not notice this in MC 18.

Any ideas?

It sounds as though you have volume protection enabled (which is not the same as clipping protection).  Volume protection automatically resets volume to 20% after a certain amount of time has passed, and when you first try to play something at startup.  It also prevents volume from increasing more than a certain amount at a time leading to the "jerky" volume control you're describing.  Try disabling it under audio options and see if that resolves your issue.

Thanks for your reply. That's exactly what the problem was. The interesting thing is that the settings I currently have or migrate over from a previous version upon installation of media Center 19. I never used that sitting in a previous installation, so there must be a bug in the migration settings.

Thanks.

It may be "on by default" now because it's a safety feature, but it's weird it didn't bring your old settings over.  It migrated over correctly for me, but I had it on before (I need it in my setup) and it stayed on (thank goodness!), so it's not an exactly analogous situation.
