It's time for me to build a new HTPC and I'd like input on potential for using the HD4600 graphics from a low power i7 4765T.
Like everyone else, I'm trying to balance the best PQ, a nearly silent build, and something that will be low power / low heat. I'm plan to use a Silverstone GD07 case, but that case will be inside a rack that is effectively a 5 sided box (only the front is open), so I'm really trying to minimize heat.
If I can get a workable solution using the 35 Watt CPU alone, I'd love to give it a go. And I love the fact that the Haswells fixed the frame rate bug... some folks say they don't even notice it on Sandybridge or Ivybridge, but it really bugs the heck out of me when it happens.
BTW, no gaming, just video playback of uncompressed 1080P rips in .mkv files in JRiver 18... or maybe 19 depending on how long I drag my feet on this build.
I was originally planning on a previous generation i3 T part (3220T) with a passive HD 7750 card, but I'm worried that will still be too much power draw.
Can anyone give me advise on this? Thanks a bunch for the help.
