For some odd reason... I cannot create a new library for an external USB disk with music on it.

I click through add new library... designate H:\ as the location.... select OK and the error message is ... cannot creeate new library in that location.

I have done this many times before in XP and Vista.... so... I am puzzled why win 7 should be different.
I have my main library and three remore network libraries.

An MC library must be a private folder, owned and managed by MC.

So create sub-folders, for example:

 H:\MC Library
 H:\Media

This allows MC to not worry about what it deletes inside MC Library.
