Okay, fixed, I was right with what I thought. The issue occurred because the transparent pixels on the right side of the orange line in PlayerBar_SliderVolFront.png, which caused the white area, before repeating the graphic. To fix it, you need to eliminate the transparent areas on the right side - I extended the orange line all the way to the end of the canvas. I'm testing now to see if there's any issues from doing this.

EDIT: The fix was more simple than that, just extend the orange on the left and right sides to eliminate the amount of transparency. The attached file will fix it in the white skin. The fix will need to be applied to Duo, Ubuntu, Yosemite, etc. too.

Windows but I'll check Linux too. I have a few ideas why this is happening, I'll report back when I can!

No need, already fixed it. In the process, the volume bar is also ever so slightly more accurate :)

That's more or less what I did. Also made a few changes in the main.xml file. The reason I used transparent left/right sides was due to the fact that the volume bar does not support OffsetX, and I wanted the bar a certain distance from the left side. After your bug report I decided to cave in and let the bar be a bit longer that I'd like. Just moved the speaker icon 2px to the left to compensate, and in the Ubuntu skin I also moved the menu a few px to the left to make the first letter align with the leftmost border of the prev icon.

Glad to hear :)

I've started playing around with the OSX Yosemite version of the skin now, here's how it looks for now:

I like it, it would fit nicely with dark mode me thinks. Will it also come in white?

Maybe, not probably not initially. I thought it looked a bit...boring, at least with a white/light-gray gradient. I'll probably end up with something I do like eventually though :) For now, you can test a preliminary version attached to this post. Let me know how it works/looks?

EDIT: Removed attachment, as it's not yet finalized but will be released within the coming week or so.

As you can see...

Installed by dragging folder into Media Center 19's skin folder (via show package contents). There must be some directory where we can install skins without needing to do this.

That's strange, I just tested it on my Macbook Pro 13" non-retina, with the Yosemite public beta 2 and I don't have any such issues ?

It's because I enabled Retina mode in MC19. With it disabled, this looks great! :D

It's because I enabled Retina mode in MC19.

Ah, yes none of my skins supports "retina" as of yet. I wrote a little post about my reasoning on my website.

Quote from: defreitas.no
The problem with the current implementation is that it appears to be no way to use separate images for when you're using the scaling functionality and when you're not. This results in skins with support for HiDPI looking a bit blurry on regular monitors, even when you're not using the scaling function.

edit: Fixed link. For some reason, this forum auto-corrects " j r m c" (without the spaces) to MC, even in links...

Awesome! Got a full WIP pack handy that needs testing? Also each OS/skin needs the custom art/resources/webpages, right?

Sure, I'll clean out the dev files, zip my current work folder & send you a PM with a download link :) As for custom art/resources etc., MC doesn't allow you to make separate such elements for each skin, and so far they haven't changed much since the last skin release. I may take the time to make some more icons before release, but no promises (it takes me quite a bit of time, icons aren't exactly my strong suit).

Glad to hear, sounds like a release within the week is very likely then :) I'll keep tweaking until the last minute, but I don't expect there to be any major changes from now until the next release.

The only major difference between the skins I even notice is that the Yosemite skin has a visible search bar, whereas the others don't (as intended).

Ok, so I've published the updated version of the skin with a selection of different window- & playerbar styles. See first post in the topic for a preview image, and download links. Thanks to Awesome Donkey for the feedback & help! :)

Nice! They look and function great.

I'm also a little bored so I did a modification to the Yosemite skin - white version! Hehe. Actually the colors match Yosemite's and the modification is more-or-less done. I'll PM you a link to the modification so you can check it out if you want. :)

Originally, I wasn't going to post these and just keep them for my own use. I've reconsidered but keep in mind these are not official and there may and likely will be bugs with these!

In my boredom a week and a half ago, I decided to make modifications to the Modern Cards skins for the purpose of a) to see how easy it was to modify a skin to certain degrees and b) felt like seeing variants of the skins so I messed around with them until I came up with some modifications that look pretty good to me. To use these just drop them in the Standard Skins folder in the Skins directory where MC is installed. Okay, here's what I did...

- I greatly modified the dark OS X Yosemite skin to match Yosemite's white/grey scheme. You can see a work-in-progress of that in the above screenshot - I've since made more modifications and fixes. So, yeah, a white OS X Yosemite skin. I actually kinda like it when not using Yosemite's dark menu.
- I greatly modified the Ubuntu (Ambiance) skin to look more like Ubuntu's Radiance skin (aka the light Ubuntu skin). This one isn't perfect by a longshot - the gradients are probably screwed up. Maybe the window buttons too, not sure.
- I ported the Windows 8 window buttons to the normal white version of the skin. Simple modification here.
- For those sticking with Windows 7 who don't wish to see Windows 8's window buttons (why oh why?!? Modern W8 buttons look so much better!), I ported the Windows 7 buttons over to both the normal (white) and duo skins. Pretty simple modification.

Download: https://www.mediafire.com/?3n3ziuyelyyohde

So, yeah, enjoy. If there's any problems with me uploading these, tell me and they'll be removed ASAP!

P.S. One other modification I considered attempting was to see if I could glass up Modern Cards like Noire Glass. Then, well, I realized that for one there is no Aero Glass theme on Windows 8 and secondly it'd probably look pretty ugly and hard to use.

I don't mind, I'm just happy if my skin help get more people into making skins or other things for MC :) As for a Aero Glass theme, I don't think it's worth the effort. It would only work on Vista and Windows 7, and there isn't really any good way to make it look properly native even there. The theme engines in MC and Windows are just to different. I'm actually happy that they [Microsoft] dropped Aero Glass altogether for Windows 8. I'm not a huge fan of all that transparency everywhere, it hinders usability with little aesthetic gain (imo).

Ah, I see what you mean. Noire's DSP button turns blue during playback when configured correctly.

Ok, all the skin versions have now been updated, just download from the original link again. Note that I haven't tested it as the machine I'm on right now doesn't have a direct audio path, but I'm quite certain it should now work :)

Yeah, let me know how to fix it too please so I can update the modded skins. :P

Just download my original skin again, and overwrite your existing file(s) PlayerBar_DSPDirectButton.png.

Excellent, Dirhael! Promptly! Is perfect! It works!
Now with two other icons that are near, we would like to do the same thing - they also need to lighten up when active, as in the original skin.

Thank you very much!

Yeah, you're right. The repeat and shuffle icons will need the same treatment. Also is it just me or is it hard to see the DSP direct button on the lighter skin? It should be, I don't know, a little brighter color like the progress bar blue?

Modded skins are updated too. :)

That is exactly what I see! I would have suggested the same thing. exactly! :)
The ideal color is like a line indicating the playback.

I'll have a look at the rest of the buttons later tonight or sometime tomorrow :)

No, it's not just you. I'll brighten it up a bit in the next update :)

Ok, so now I've updated the "active" state color for the playerbar buttons (the color differs between the different versions of the skins). Just download again from the original post to get the new version :)

If you want to do that, here's a list of the files you'll need to copy from the white version and overwrite in the one you're using:

Code: [Select]
PlayerBar_ContButton.png
PlayerBar_ContSongButton.png
PlayerBar_DSPDirectButton.png
PlayerBar_ShButton.png

Icons of white skin have a white halo around them, so that they look ugly on dark skin.
In short, I repainted these icons as considered necessary for yourself :)
I also replaced the arrow icon for Play List icon rounded arrows - so intuitive, I think.

If there is interest, then all the images attached to the post.

Ah, yes. Forgot about that, that's something that remains from another of my skins (the "Brighter Days" one, which uses the same icons). I'll remove the glow in another update, it's really just a matter of hitting a toggle in Photoshop. Good to see you made it work for yourself anyway :)

Thanks to kode54 pointing me in the right direction, I was able to rip the source stoplight button resources from Yosemite and I've been able to make proper and perfect stoplight buttons for Modern Cards. While the ones the skin is currently using isn't too far off (there is some color differences) I think using the actual icons might be better.

Files attached to this post.

Thanks for the great looking skin! It makes a very nice flat & modern addition to the somewhat thin collection for MC. I enjoy playing with the "add color" control when I feel like toning it down a little bit for evening, etc.
Happy Holidays & Don't Stop Now!!

I modify your skin combine with Black on Black skin.
For who like both skin.

Optional: copy OptionsTree.png to "c:\Program Files (x86)\J River\Media Center 20\Data\Custom Art" for white mark in option

Note: If want text note at top of playlist view is white replace "808080" with "FFFFFF" in main.xml file.

Haven't really had time to do anything with the skin as of late, but as I haven't received bug reports in a while then perhaps there's no need. I may do more with it (or perhaps start a new project) during the coming year though :)

If anyone's interested, I uploaded a couple of my old skins today. I have posted one of them before, I've just tweaked a couple of the colors as requested here and over at DeviantArt. The other one I haven't been shared anywhere until now, as it was the very first one I ever did for JRiver Media Center. I tested it in the latest version, and it appears to work fine. Neither of them have received the polish of my "Modern Cards" skin, but they do work just fine all the same :)

If you want to check them out, you can find them here: https://defreitas.no/2-older-jriver-skins/

EDIT: Attached screenshots.
