Start MC19 Library Server as a Windows 8 service (pre-login) ?
« on: September 12, 2013, 04:40:08 pm »

Hi, is there any way to start the MC19 Library Server as a Windows 8 service ?

I am aware of the Windows Startup option, however it starts MC19 AFTER user login.

I have a low power Haswell setup (< 30W) that I would like to act as the library server (PVR OTA TV recording, music, pictures and movies) for all the HTPCs in the house.  However, that computer will also be used with different accounts.  I would rather have the MC19 server be independant of who is logged in, if any.

Cheers,

Rudy

Yup - nothing like a windows update or power outage to reboot you PC while you are away then none of the Library Server PC's will connect/

I guess the team will have to implement this for the Linux build.

MC can not run natively as a service.  Sorry, but this is unlikely to change soon.

You can try tools like FireDaemon to run any program as a service.

Or you could configure the machine to auto-login to an account that runs the server, and then switch accounts when needed.

Any chance this is something that will be addressed in future release?
