Help with gapless song transition.
« on: September 17, 2013, 07:51:20 pm »

I just purchased an album o iTunes. This album has a couple of songs which are gapless. On iTunes its prefect, no gap at all. On JRiver, the transition between these songs has a quiet "pop". Its gapless, but it produces this POP or click which is kinda annoying.

I tried everything recommended on the other gapless thread, I even tried converting the files to something thats not from itunes purchased files.

Everything else plays fine. classical music: perfect. Its just this album.

I use the apogee duet 2. 8gb of ram, macbook pro with 10.8.5 mountain lion (latest).

I can send the files if you want to do some testing.

Yes, please send us two files that should play gapless and we'll check it out here.

Thanks.  I've got the samples and can reproduce the subtle tick.

We're reading and using the gapless information (iTunSMPB) from the M4A header.

Interestingly, foobar2000 also ticks.  It makes me wonder if Apple has changed something in the format of their gapless header?

I'll do some digging.  If anyone else knows anything about this, please share.

Weird, isn't it?

I have another gapless album from iTunes that does not have this problem. Maybe its something from this particular album?

I also tested it with the same songs but downloaded from the band's bandcamp site. Same thing happened.

yesterday I got ahold of the album in flac and guess what? No tick whatsoever.

Thanks for everything, Matt.

Anyone ever find anything out about this? I'm having the same problem with some downloaded mp3s, from an opera.  They play gaplessly in the most recent iTunes, but there's a little click in the most recent J River and Foobar.  I can send a couple to whomever if need be.

I should also note that I have exactly the same settings as the op.  That click is so annoying, and God help me if I have to go back to iTunes to play this and a few other albums.
