Rio Riot support?
« on: March 11, 2002, 02:11:43 pm »

What is the status of support for the Rio Riot in MJ8? Is it on the horizon, not looked at, already supported?

Thanks

You using XP?  I think XP supports the Riot right out of the box and therefore MJ should work perfectly with it.  Do you have your Riot yet?  Are you happy with it?

Don't have a Riot yet. Contemplating upgrading a Nomad Jukebox 20G to a Nomad Jukebox 3 or Rio Riot (or not at all). Does the Riot appear as a removable hard drive? Or does it need a plugin? The Nomad Jukebox needs a plugin...

dwex,

In regards to the Rio Riot, we don't have one yet so I don't know what we need to support it. I have a message in to SonicBlue/Rio to get to the bottom of what I need to support all of the new players they have, as well as to straighten out issues with XP and the players we do support. They have not responded, but as soon as I know something, I will post more information.

For all interested Rio Riot users....

Here is the text of my last correspondence with Rio.

Steve... (July 2)

Is there any SDK available for support of the Rio Riot?

Rio... (July 8)

I will work with our engineering team to get you this information.

The good news is they are "working on this". The bad news is I don't have it yet.  I will let you know when I know something so we can rescue Harry from the serpent.

Thanks for following up.

I just received a reply from SonicBlue telling me that there is no SDK for the Rio Riot.  This makes me wonder how anybody outside of SonicBlue connects to it? For anyone that has a Rio Riot, it doesn't show up as a removable or fixed drive under "My Computer" does it?

No, It doesn't show up as a removable or fixed drive. I appears in the device manager as a usb controller.
