Aha! Finally cracked it. When I first listened to the tune, I knew I recognized it, but I couldn't put a name to it, but it finally clicked. It seems to be an instrumental version of "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" -- a song about a famous shipwreck, right here in Minnesota (Lake Superior). Gordon lightfoot came up with the original tune in 1976, and it has been covered many times since.

I think that Gordon Lightfoot will be looking for some serious royalties here!  ;D

Pete...

Edmund Fitzgerald....?

It would be the loosest interpretation I'd ever heard...sounds more Diana Ross - Looking for Mr Goodbar theme. Sorry...no royalties for the great musician Mr. Lightfoot
