2 Gizmo questions
« on: October 01, 2013, 12:07:53 pm »

Note: I am unable to reply on the Gizmo thread, for some reason.

1. Can I control the cache size? My Android is filling up with Gizmo cache to the point of the device becoming unusable.

2. What is going on when Gizmo reads "preparing"? It takes a long time. Is it server or client side?

Thanks,
Shiraz

As of right now, there is no way to control the cache size.  Hopefully this is addressed soon in an update.  It has rendered Gizmo, something I used to use daily, completely useless for me other than as a Theater View remote.  The cache fills up my SD card and gobbles up so much bandwidth that I can no longer stream over 4G without using up my entire data plan in 4-days.

I do not know about #2.

Sorry about the problem.

Thanks Matt... though updating and launching Gizmo did not prune the existing cache. Do we need to do that manually?

Also, my vote would be to make the cache size configurable. Ideally not as a static value but as a percentage of free space remaining -- this would ensure maximizing the use of the cache (I consider this cache a high priority), as well as maintaining necessary free space... this would be identical to the Windows Recycling Bin. Perhaps either static or dynamic as such. In any case, I think 512MB is a bit low.

Thanks!

Play one song and it'll be pruned.

It's also safe to delete the cache manually using a file manager:

Okay, great thanks. :)

And can I interpret your non-response to my cache configurability request as "I'll think about it"?
