Samsung Galaxy S3 Crashing on Audio Sync
« on: October 04, 2013, 03:39:59 pm »

I've got a GT-i9305 with v4.1.2 stock.

I've been trying to sync a smartlist using MC19.0.50 (and before I upgraded yesterday, I was using MC19.0.45 with the same issue described subsequently) but MC crashes at about 5-10% of the way into the operation. The audio is being converted from 16bit/44.1kHz FLAC to mp3 VBR Normal and synced to the external SD card.

I've looked at recent relevant posts:

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=74195.0
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=83715.0

Some notable differences:
1. Sync does work
2. Audio does playback on the device (I use PowerAmp) without an obvious problem

It's a long slow process of sync, crash, reboot, sync, ... as per the proof of insanity, Q.E.D.

I've run a crash log and emailed it to:
   logs (at) jriver dot com

Hopefully, I'll get some guidance before I finish (getting close to completion)...   :P

I've looked at your log, but I'm not sure yet what's happening.

Does it make any difference if you turn off the audio conversion cache in Options > File Location?

Wow, that was quick   :o

Have sent you the log applying your suggestion. No difference unfortunately.

Thanks

how many songs are in the playlist?
I am having better luck with my S4 since limiting the syncing smartlists to fewer than 3999 songs.

I'll check but definitely less than 3999 titles.

The crashes stopped when there was no more conversion to do (to the cache). When the process was in upload mode it ticked along without a problem.

I did a transfer job to a USB flash drive and it performed without a hitch.

As per similar posts, it appears that MTP is part of the issue.
