Add Value to Series Field
« on: October 23, 2013, 12:36:26 pm »

I have a TV mini-series "War and Remembrance" which I need to add value to the series field so the mini-series information and cover art will be downloaded.  How do I do that?

Right-click on the file and select Get Movie & TV Info.

PS. You can do it in bulk by selecting a number of files at the same time, or you can get MC to do it automatically on import by checking the Get Movie & TV Info box in the Auto Import configuration.

In case you're not even at the stage csimon is starting from:

In Standard View (list like), right click on any column heading. Make sure that the [series] field appears.
Then select your video files.
Right-click on the [series]  entry for that file and select Rename.
Enter War and Rememberance.

Do the same for [Season], but enter 1
Do the same for each [Episode] entry too, but enter the episode number manually. If they appear in the correct order already, simply select them all, right click in the top [Episode] entry (which is probably blank) and click rename. There enter this:
=Counter(1)
That will enter 1 under [episode] for the first file, 2 for the second, 3 for the third and so on. You should now be able to do what csimon suggested.

You should also make sure that the [Media Subtype] shows TV Show. Sometimes MC guesses on the media subtype and will choose Movie if a file's duration is longer than most regular TV shows.

Ah, thank, you. Sorry, I assumed the metadata was already there!

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.  It appears my file names were not correct.  When I renamed them "War and Remembrance S01E01"
and so on, they were recognized and the correct information was downloaded.  Now I know how to name each file for TV shows/episodes.  This program is fantastic - wish I would have purchased it earlier.
