WAV Tracks transferred to the iPod

Hi, please advise

When a WAV encoded track is transferred to the iPod - is it transferred as a native uncompressed WAV file or an uncompressed WAV
within another carrier Format eg MP3, IAFF or DSD.

Currently the Audio conversion mode in JRiver is set to Specified output format and Encoder to Uncompressed WAV.
