Author Topic: Does Media Center need to create XML documents for every single video?  (Read 1458 times)

I've been a long time user of the free media jukebox 14, and as a DJ it's been a great way to organize and tag all of my mp3 files. Over the last year I've been adding videos to my shows as well so I've built up a decent sized collection of those as well, but had no way to organize and tag them until now. So I purchased J River Media Center 19 to aid with organizing my music and video collection. However there has been one rather annoying side effect that I noticed after adding my videos to my library; it created an XML document for each and every video. I understand that someone using this for random home filing and playing won't be bothered by this, but since I use a professional DJ program to run my shows it's just way to much clutter when I go to access the videos from file. I would like to know if there is any way to prevent media center from creating the xml documents when I upload new videos to my library. Thanks in advance!

Go to Tools >> Options >> General.

Under "Importing and Tagging" click the drop down list "Store tags in external sidecar files if the file type does not support tagging"

Untick "Video"

Delete the video sidecar files you don't want. They shouldn't be recreated.
