Hulu Troubleshooting
« on: December 05, 2013, 01:59:06 pm »

Theater view Hulu hasn't worked in the last few months of builds. Any plans to bring this feature back?

Thanks!
It's working here.

However, it's possible it will only work in the US.

I'm in the US and having trouble getting Hulu files to play in Media Center 19 (current build).

The lists in Theater View populate with files, but when I try to play them I get a "Something is wrong with playback" message. I'll send a log file to you via email, hope it helps.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the log.

After 20 seconds of trying to build the graph, we get:
11496734: 2544: Playback: DShowVideoGraph::Render: Start
11496734: 2544: Playback: DShowVideoGraph::ConnectSourceAndSplitter: Start
11517812: 2544: Playback: DShowVideoGraph::ConnectSourceAndSplitter: Finish (21078 ms)
11517812: 2544: Playback: DShowVideoGraph::Render: Error: source / splitter did not expose output pins.

I'm not sure why this is happening.

Does Hulu in a browser work?  How about Hulu Desktop?

Sorry not to be more help.

Thanks for taking a look at the logs.

In my system Hulu works fine in IE 11, Chrome, and on Hulu Desktop. Also, after installing Flash 11 it worked in the MC browser. Still no luck launching files out of the Theater View menu, same problem. I've tested previous builds and MC 18, same problem.

It must be a strange local problem. I'm using Win 8.1, and I think Hulu stopped working around the time I upgraded to the preview  (currently have updated Win 8.1 RTM).

Are there any DirectShow settings within Windows to check out? Maybe some dependency is missing?

I'll continue to troubleshoot and try on another computer when I get a chance. Any other users having this trouble on Windows 8.1?

Make sure you have MC 19.0.87 installed.

I'm testing Windows 8.1 at work and home, and it's working on both for me.

Make sure everything in Options > File Type is set to 'Automatic'.  Also, try toggling the Red October mode in Options > Video.

hmm, still no luck.

Running 19.0.87, all File Types set to automatic. My computer only runs RO Standard well, but toggling the RO back and forth didn't help either.

I'll continue to investigate my system. I'm grateful for the help, let me know if you have any other ideas to try or if additional logs would help.

Still trying to figure this out, can't get Hulu files to play.

I wiped my computer clean with a new installation of Windows 8. No programs installed other than MC 19.0.87. No Anti-Virus software installed.

Clean library. RO standard, all file types set to automatic.

Same error, copy of log below.

Any further thoughts? Are there any Direct Show Depenencies that might cause this to happen? Any specific settings I could try to change?

Thank again for any help, would love to get this running successfully.
