Media Jukebox won't play after idle
« on: February 23, 2003, 07:47:29 pm »

I am running Media Jukebox 8 and every time I let the program sit for more than thirty minutes and I go back and try to play a file (any format it doesn't matter) the status bar says buffering... and won't make a sound. I have to restart my computer in order to get it working again. I have a older pentium III with 256mb of ram running Windows ME. My soundcard is a M-Audio Delta 66. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. Thank You.

...and these files are sitting on a local drive? Are you running latest build of v8? Post your sys info from MJ>Help>System Info.

Are they?

Update your ASPI from Adaptec site. Make sure MJ is NOT running when you do.

Could be something weird with Millen Ed (worst MS OS).

The files are all on a local hard drive.  I have never had any problems with ME to date and every other media player I've tried has worked just fine so what is different now?

King > I thought windows 1.0 was

No...that version was the best (IMHO). I loved playing with himem.sys, LH, and all the neat performance tuning you could do with autoexec.bat and config.sys. Only W2k comes close!

six > M-Audio Delta 66

Are you sure you have the latest drivers for this card? M-Audio's are high quality cards (I've heard) but it sounds more & more like a driver problem.

Yep, I just updated it right before I loaded MJ. Should I try intalling an older driver and seeing if it is a bug in the new one?

Windows XP Service Pack 1

Try running IE/Tools/Windows Update to check the Microsoft site.

...and you shouldn't (need SP1)...since your running Millen Ed.

Did you update your ASPI to latest? If not...do so.

If that still doesn't help then backup your licence and library...uninstall MJ...reboot...reinstall. Other than that (you've investigated the M-Audio drivers now I assume), I'm dang nab plumb out of ideas.

edit: One more thing...check out your settings in MJ>Settings>Options>Playback>Output. Play around with the options there (including the Settings button).
