Recently Imported shows all video files again
« on: November 24, 2013, 03:08:50 pm »

My Video files live on a NAS which I have mapped to all my PC with the same drive letters. I had the NAS off for just a few minutes today and I think that is what prompted the reimporting of the files.

I have "Fix broken links: Yes (protest files on missing drives) checked in my Import rules. I also have "Update for external changes" checked. Could the latter be my culprit?

I am a bit confused about this, and it is not the first time it has happened..

What was the symptom on the computer?  How did it manifest when it happened?

With that option enabled, if MC can see the drive (the letter exists), but the files aren't there, then it removes them from the Library.  Period.

Now, it keeps the records, so when they show back up, they aren't actually reimported fully, but more "unremoved", so it shouldn't cause a huge mess, but...

Drive exists + Files gone == removed.

I went to move a Movie to my Movie drive on the NAS and it said the drive was not accessible . The mapped drivers were not accessible in windows, the shares stilled showed in my computer, but could not open or write to them.

MC has a setting that will preserve file entries in the database even if the drive isn't present.
