Crossfade next-song loading gap in sound (MJ7.2).
« on: March 01, 2002, 08:32:05 am »

I have found that when I playback using cross-fade, I often (90%) get a quick break in the music toward the end of the leaving song while the processor loads the coming song.  The crossfading is perfect, but the gap in the music occurs (a few second before the old song finishes) because it seems that the processor cannot handle loading a new song while playing the old song.

I am playing only wma-160 -encoded songs.

I have a 1.2GHz P-III processor running W2000 sp2, with 512MB of RAM, and 10s-of-GB disk space.

I expected this problem when I ran MJ on my P-II 266MHz/128MB W2000sp2 machine, but not on my P-III with 512MB.

What's happening?  Anyone else experience this?

TIA,
-SM
