Nuforce is also advertising an android DAC
https://www.nuforce.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&layout=item&id=666&Itemid=2659It can be used with the following devices (if they have Android 4.1.1 that enables support for USB OTG Audio features):
HTC ONE X
Samsung S3
SONY Xperia Z
You don't need 'android support' in a DAC if the phone has OTG with audio support
Are they just advertising Android support for marketing purposes?
With the correct Android device should you, in theory, be able to connect to any DAC?
Do you need a specific app to make it work?
I'm curious about high quality audio from android because it is typically terrible. I currently have 4 android devices(none with OTG) but only use one for audio because it has a Wolfson dac inside that sounds OK.
As curious as i am about Android, it may be irrelevant. Dell is selling windows 8 (not RT) tablets for less than 300 now so that may be my next semi-portable device. It will allow for JRiver in my vehicles which is where the majority of portable-device use is.
