I tried a 48x burner which I assume was not supported since it would not do disk at once.  So I put back in my buslink 32x, which uses to do disk at once, and now it won't any more.

What am I doing wrong?  This is so frustrating.

Try MC9 if the latest MJ8 does not work.

Maybe also Install ASPI

I was using v8 and DAO worked fine with my 32x burner, until I put in a 48x burner, which DAO did not work.  So I put in my old 32 burner and then DAO no longer worked with it!

I even uninstalled MJ and removed the burner and rebooted.  Then reinstalled the 32x burner and MJ and still no DAO.  

I am running XP Pro, and did install the aspi, but I never had to to that before to get the 32x to do DAO, but still no DAO.

It's like somehow some flag in the registry got set to no DAO and now the 32x burner is reading it and honoring it.  Or some config file that was left over, somebody at RJRiver must know how to fix this.

I don't want go to v9 at this time, while it's still in beta, I play too much music all the time to rely on beta products at this time.  And the last I read in the v9 newsgroup, they were haveing trouble with the burner part of the release.

I use MC9 all the time, and play music almost all day been using it for sometime

besides the Unix Code Problems back around 9.0.92-8.0.105 MC9 works well.

maybe better than MJ8, Burning for sure is better

install Nero Drive Speed.
Search for it ,you will get a lot of links.
Run it ,it would detect the maximun speed of yours drives.
Set it to stat a start-up , like it you cannot forget to set it when burning.
It is a free zip file that you can get , yo do not need to use the Nero software to run it

When you say it won't burn DAO, do you mean you can't uncheck the "use generic driver" option? Try uninstalling and telling it to remove all registry entries. Then reinstall MJ.

Or, just delete the following registry key and restart MJ:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Jukebox\CD Writer

The "use generic driver"  is checked and greyed out.
The "Use Internal ASPI" is checked, it's not greyed out.
The "add 2 second gap is checked and greyed out, I can't uncheck it.

I tried deleting those keys from my registry, and even rebooted before rerunning MJ.  No change.

I know I used to have DAO (no 2 second gap) before, something has changed somehow, I have no idea.

I even totally reformatted and reinstalled XP Pro and MJ, no help, I can't get rid of the 2 second gap.

MJ reports my drive as  LITE-ON LTR-32123S

Any ideas?

More info.  DAO works perfectly in Nero, but not MJ.

I wonder if it's possible the MJ lost support for some burners in the latest release?

Gotta love it.

The file with the .mj is the file that was installed by MJ.  The other uppercase file is the file that I had in the Nero program files directory.  I copied the Nero version to the MJ dir and now I have full control of the DAO and the 2 second gap.

Can anyone explain this?  And the MJ version is twice the size of the Nero version.

So I'm working properly now, but I think something is wrong with this dll file in the MJ install.
