Apparently, you throw "Hunter's" at the front of it, and all is legal and well?

On the developers website the software is called "Hunter's Media Player 8.0". I haven't dared to install it, but the first setup dialog also shows this title. Eventually the developer is justed quoted wrongly? Nevertheless I have send a complaint to CNet, just in case

at first I was angry about the ripoff

I left a negative review at cnet saying that the developer was trying to capitalize on the Good reputation of JRiver's product

that'd be an effective ploy--based upon the level of computer (il)literacy demonstrated by many MJ newbys (myself included), many will get confused and download the wrong product

once they have it installed and working, they'll never ever change no matter what

that's why so many people still use Real and Winamp

but my cd player still sounds bad in digital mode

so I'm switching to Hunter's

It's even was than I thought. They have two products. Hunter's Media Player 8.0 like Zazie said and Hunter's Media Jukebox 8.0 . Yikes.

cancelling my switchilization to Hunter's Media Jukebox

Bad sounding playback with digital audio solved

in my device manager, my Yamaha CRW2100E CD-R had 2 drivers installed. I uninstalled them and rebooted. WinXp found the new hardware upon startup and the drivers were reinstalled, but now there were four. One driver that wasn't there before is named redbook.sys. I don't know which of the other drivers wasn't there prior, or how they disappeared in the first place. Now digital CD audio sounds great.
