Category Setting Called Matching
« on: December 22, 2013, 09:19:30 am »

Would anybody be able to explain what the Category Setting called Matching is for. The choices are Match Any or Match All. I have searched and cannot find it anywhere and wonder if it is for the problem I am experiencing in Gizmo where the same album is displayed for every album with the same title

Thanks!

The Any/All choice makes sense, and can be selected, when you have certain category Types set, such as an expression.  To understand this, assume an expression returns the first letter of an Album's name.

So for the albums named Lungs, Ceremonials and Central Reservations, you'll get back a pane or category of L and C.

With Match any selected under Settings, if you select L and C in the view, then any albums that begin with L or C will be shown in the file list.

However, with Match all set, the file list will have no results, because an album cannot both start with L and C simultaneously.

This choice makes most sense when you consider something like Keywords, where you want to select files with several keywords set, for example, Vacation and Family.

I didn't understand what this meant.   Can you clarify, or show a screenshot that shows what you mean?

Hope the attached screenshots explain it. The titles-right shot shows what the screen should look like when Gizmo is working correctly. After a few clicks the soemthing appears to go wrong with Gizmo and the screen ends up looking like titles-wrong. Not onl is the same cover image displayed for every album with the same title but it is exacltly the same album when you look at the tracks.

Was this library ever cloned?  That's the only time I've heard of this type of corruption.  If it wasn't cloned, someone from JRiver might need to help out.

No there was no cloning. It happens after i have clicked a few selections. After this if I click again nothing is displayed and the library server actually stops communicating.
